I am so excited for this team to hit the ground running! Our team will be working at Pehucci Children’s Home and School, Wings of Life in Kibera and Siana in the Maasai Mara. We will be working alongside Kenyans to take on challenging topics the youth there are struggling with and offer them encouragement and inspiration. We will be hitting issues of self esteem, self worth and helping to define the true meaning of real friendship. We will be educating them on different areas of hygeine and attacking tough abuse issues head on! We will be spending time in fellowship with our kenyan BFR leaders and learning and pouring into each other.

This team has worked so hard in their fundraising all while raising awareness to this area of need. They have been diligently praying and passionately preparing to open their hearts in serving and in saying yes to whereever and whatever God wants from them. I am asking you to join us in prayer as we head over to serve in Kenya, that we act as the hands and feet of Christ and continue to prove that something as simple as love does work.

I love these words given to me by a BFR teammate from Martin Luther King Jr.

“Everybody can be great…because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace and a soul generated by love.”

Lacey, co-founder

376306_909970554940_452043318_nI am from Memphis, TN and Co-Founder of Be Free Rev.

The Lord’s calling for me was simple, “Go..” I have not looked back since. I ask myself all the time why God thought us worthy of such a huge calling in life but I thank Him everyday for believing in us and instilling the courage to stop at nothing to achieve it.

I am very blessed to be able to lead teams to Kenya and to have such an incredible team that is bursting with extraordinary gifts. Kenya is such a special place  to BFR and we consider those we serve our family as well. I am excited for the team to meet all the kids and leaders that are an intricate part of BFR and watch them touch and change each others hearts. My favorite part of mission work is watching God burst out of team members as they act as His hands and feet and see how their hearts and faith shift. It is something so powerful and peaceful at the same time. I am excited to journey with great friends, a gifted team, Kenyan friends, my mother and my wonderful husband on this adventure to Kenya!

Adam, Team Leader

UG0425My name is Adam Stluka and I am married to the love of my life Lacey.  We have a crazy chocolate lab named Sly that is pretty much my side-kick.  I’m from a small town in Missouri where life lives at a much slower pace and a hand shake is still the utmost form of trust.  I have been to Kenya many times and each time I feel God speak to me in a completely different way.  Each time He opens my eyes to a form of grace I hadn’t experienced yet.  The people you interact with and get to know become true friends and brothers/sisters in Christ.  I’ve always had a push to further my relationship with Christ from my family and peers and going across the world with BFR is exactly that.  The moment you realize that what we are doing in Africa isn’t just about helping the people you encounter each day, but also helping yourself, really starts a fire that’s impossible to put out.  BFR does a great job in bringing people together from all walks in life and allowing them to find their own spiritual gifts that not only enhance their presence to others but within themselves.  I’m excited to head back to my “home away from home” and see faces I’ve longed to see since last fall.  Can’t wait!

Candace, curriculum & programming (BFR)

candace2I am 20 years old and currently residing in Memphis, TN. I have always had a heart for serving and a desire for adventure. A few events over the past three years have made me rely on God more than ever. However, despite how much I focused on my personal faith I still felt a void.

This past July I went to Kenya with Be Free and I realized that the void I felt was because I had ignored my call to serve, and I left feeling more fulfilled than ever before! After I returned in July I went back to my everyday life in Chattanooga but I felt God calling me back to Memphis to serve with BFR. I moved back to Memphis and I am so excited for this new adventure!

1073831_10200281021769034_1608104757_oI am glad to say I am from Memphis. I love sports, reading, quilting, my family and most of all my faith! My profession is mental health counseling for adults. I have a private practice in Bartlett and Covington. I am blessed to have a job I love!I am surprised to discover that God has called me to go to Africa a second time. My daughter, Lacey, has always inspired me. Her work with Be Free Rev is phenomenal and I totally support what she is doing with it. I just never imagined that I would be going there myself. In prayer I came to realize that God wanted me to go to Africa. I am looking forward to sharing this experience with my daughter and son-in-law and meeting the many special people there. I am excited to see my Kenyan granddaughter, Sharlene and work alongside my new Kenyan family once again!

Jared and Morgan

Screen Shot 2013-09-16 at 12.17.10 PMWe both were born and raised in Northwest Alabama. We grew up in the same small Christian school and church. We just celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary this past July. We both accepted the call to full-time ministry while in high school and are now both serving here in Memphis at Macon Road Baptist School. Morgan teaches 4th grade, and I teach high school math, science, and Bible. We both minister to the youth group in our church, and I have the privilege to lead worship on Sunday mornings at Macon Road Baptist Church.

Morgan learned about Be Free early this year and became very interested in the ministry. She loved the unique jewelry and has always had a burden for missions in Africa. After researching the website, we decided to apply for the trip. This will be our first foreign mission trip together. We have taken a huge step of faith, and God has proven Himself faithful already. We know beyond the shadow of a doubt that we are in His will, and we are excited to see what He has in store. To God be the glory! Great things He has done! Ephesians 3:20

Screen Shot 2013-09-16 at 12.18.39 PMBorn and raised in Memphis, TN, I currently live in north Mississippi with my husband, Mike, and our two children Owen (5) and Kate (2). I am a University of Memphis graduate with a Bachelors degree in Special Education and a Masters degree in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). For the past 6 years, I have worked for Memphis City/Shelby County Schools as a special education teacher where I provide academic and functional skills training to third through fifth grade students with intellectual disabilities.

Over the past couple of years, I have had the opportunity to witness the amazing work that BFR is doing to empower individuals – both across the globe and in their own backyard. It wasn’t until recently, however, that I felt an overwhelming call to become a part of the mission, myself. As a teacher, who serves students from low-income areas and sees education very often taken for granted, I was excited to learn that there was an opportunity to serve utilizing the talents that God has given me for educating others. After much prayer and reflection, I decided to answer the call and seize this amazing opportunity to help educate and empower the men, women and children in Kenya. I am so excited to see what God has in store for me and the incredible team and leaders that I will be working with!!

Screen Shot 2013-09-16 at 12.11.09 PMI was born in Fresno, California. I lived in California for a few years, then Seattle, and finally Memphis TN since I was 14. I graduated from Rhodes College with a Bachelors in Biology and work as a clinical specialist/consultant, for a medical device company, who specializes in a non-drug treatment for depression. Lacey has been a very close friend of mine for many years, and I got to watch this dream grow from the very beginning. I was so inspired about what Be Free Revolution was doing I knew I had to go someday on a mission. My husband and I decided at the last fundraiser event in 2012 that we were going to Kenya on the September mission no matter what ! I am so excited that this dream is coming true and cannot even imagine what God has in store. I know that I will come back forever changed. I feel truly blessed to be a part of the team traveling in September and that I get a chance to experience Gods work with my husband Robert.

I’m super excited to get to Kenya! I love children, I love to travel and I love to serve. As life would have it, one of my wife’s best friends is a cofounder of BFR. An amazing coincidence? Who knows…I’m just very thankful for this opportunity.

I was born and raised in a small town in Missouri called Ellington. I grew up in a Babtist Church all my life and came to know Christ when I was 7. For the last few years I had been praying for an opportunity to go on a mission trip out of the country. Next thing I knew I got a call from my cousin Lacey saying they would love to have me on their mission team! I am so excited to be serving in Kenya!

This will be my first mission and hopefully not my last. I am excited to see what God has planned in my life in the future and for this mission.

I’m from Memphis,TN. I go to Macon Road Baptist School. Before I even knew about about Be Free Revolution I had been praying about a month before for God to send me to Africa. One Sunday morning my youth pastors wife, Mrs. Cooper, showed me a small piece of paper about Be Free Revolution missions trip dates.

When I saw the paper I almost cried. God had heard my prays. We have such an amazing God, even though sometimes times get hard, frustrating, and I don’t understand, God always has a plan and purpose for my life.  I am very greatful that God has given me this wonderful opportunity and a life to glorify Him.
