ABOUT OUR TRIP
Our team will be serving in Western Kenya and Nairobi. We will travel to a village called Sanducia where we will work to remove a parasite called jiggers from men, women and children's feet.
We will briefly stop in Nairobi to visit with our partners there and serve with the youth there.
On this trip our flight will land in Nairobi, Kenya where we will stay the night. The next day we will drive roughly 5-6hrs through the beautiful Rift Valley before arriving in Sanducia. Sanducia is a remote village near Kisumu in Kenya. Here we work within the indigenous tribes who farm and work their lands for survival.
DONATE & MAKE A DIFFERENCE
The people that I have encountered and the experiences that I have had in Kenya have had a major impact on my life. The way that I view my circumstances, the way that I define my purpose, and the way that I live out my faith have all been altered through the days that I have spent on the mission field with BFR. If a person is even thinking about going on a mission trip with BFR, I would tell them to do everything that they can do to make it happen as soon as possible.
I was given the great honor to not only serve alongside BFR in a short-term trip but also to pilot the Global Apprenticeship Program and spend 6 weeks in Kenya. Some of my greatest, most treasured relationship was either strengthened or formed on the mission field with my teammates and the people of Kenya with whom I was able to experience life. God led me to BFR and Kenya, and with it came experiences that burn fresh within my heart, friendships that constantly sharpen my iron, and most importantly, a deepening adoration for my God who called me to love people with complete abandon.
The Jigger Trip to Western Kenya is one that you leave knowing you made an impact as you are on your hands and knees serving men, women and children of all ages. You could be doing anything from cleaning feet, removing jiggers, playing soccer with kids or teaching families how to keep jiggers out of their homes. The only hard part was wishing we had more time there.
This experience opened my eyes and heart to how others in underdeveloped nations maintain their faith in the lord despite their harsh circumstances. Despite my lack of knowledge on the removal of jiggers I learned that I as one individual can affect the lives of many.
