Nick, Team Leader: June Uganda

Just recently I was in a bible study where we were discussing our calling to “Global Missions”.  Someone made a comment that they had never been or felt “called”.  They were questioning what their calling was.  It was then that I realized that I have never heard an audible voice and I rarely get a prompting.  In most cases I believe we answer God’s calling by just seeing a need and saying “yes, I’ll do it”.

I love Isaiah 6:8 “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?  Then said I, Here am I; send me.”

Often times, these needs seem small and unimportant, but as we accept the responsibility and give it our best in the small things, God honors that with giving us greater opportunities to serve Him.

I am so excited and humbled to be co-leading the Uganda June team with BFR.  God has definitely blessed me with this great responsibility.  But the opportunity came with me saying “yes, I’ll go” to thee other mission trips prior.  I do believe God has given me a passion for traveling and for people.  The two go hand-in-hand with global missions.  So naturally I am able to fill a need and serve God’s people to spread the Good News and help others.  We can do great and seemingly impossible things by discovering our passions and saying “yes, I’ll do it” to the opportunities that He puts in front of us both at home and in another country.

Many times we put up obstacles and excuses such as I’m too busy right now, I don’t have the funds, I don’t feel that I am sufficient enough to do the job.  This is probably not too comforting for the team, but I haven’t led too much in my life and I am leading a team in another country.  However, I do know that God shows up and shows off in and through our weaknesses and insufficiencies.  I can’t wait to see our team discover their gifts and talents on the mission field, and I can’t wait to see Him show up and show off… It’s going to be amazing!

Wow! Here I go, here I am again, back in AFRICA for the fourth time in 11 months. I am forever grateful to the amazing women behind bfr. I cannot explain how excited, blessed, and thankful I am for the opportunity to lead a bfr team on mission to Uganda. God has provided me with this journey that seems to never end!!!!

I have been called to love and change the hearts of others through this mission, and I am honored and humbled by the experience Britney and Lacey are giving me to support and grow their selfless organization.

My goal as a leader is not only to serve my team and kids, women, and men of SMILE but to empower them to come alongside with me in this journey to grow, persevere, and find humility. I hope to bring a better understanding to my teammates eyes of their calling. For them to share their love to those that do not know love otherwise.

We have spent countless hours preparing for this trip and in 10 days we will be back on African soil; a place I call my second home.

God hand picked each individual for this team and I am ecstatic to see their talents and gifts on the field.

Let the journey begin!!!
